AI: Part of your CRM or separate from it?

Monday 15 June 2026

Many organisations have already developed the habit of using a mainstream AI assistant to draft a letter, summarise a report or prepare a meeting. It is convenient, and no one will go back. But these tools quickly show their limitations: they know nothing about your members, your membership fees, or the history of your files. Every request requires re-explaining the context, copying data, sometimes exporting an entire file. And every copy-paste raises the same question, rarely asked out loud: where does that information actually go?

The difference lies precisely there. An integrated AI embedded at the heart of business applications works on reliable data it already knows: the member record, their payment history, past exchanges, event registrations, and so on. No extraction needed, no unreliable synchronisation between two systems. The output is immediately usable because it is grounded in the organisation’s actual reality, not a context reconstructed by hand.

This proximity to data also helps streamline everyday processes. No more switching between multiple interfaces: the AI operates where the work actually happens. Better still, it can automate concrete actions, not just produce text. Preparing a membership renewal reminder tailored to the member’s actual situation. Drafting the minutes of a general assembly from information already recorded in the system. Identifying inactive members before they disengage.

The question of data governance remains, and it is far from secondary for structures managing member information, which is sometimes sensitive. As long as that information stays within a centralised environment, it is neither duplicated nor dispersed across third-party applications. GDPR compliance becomes significantly more straightforward, whereas the use of external tools often relies on the individual discipline of each staff member.

It is this integration logic that is guiding the current development of AI within Organon, with particular attention paid to data control.
