Organica, at the heart of new information technologies
ORGANICA
- Founded in 1984 - 38 years ago - Organica is a service company specialising in the integrated computerisation of organisations - be they companies, associations or institutions - in terms of both their management and their communication.
- Organica is the creator of the "Organon" integrated software package, which it develops, implements, maintains and markets on a European scale.
- If Organica has today a high level of expertise in its field, it is undoubtedly due to its already long history, and also above all because this history has gone through three technological revolutions: micro-computing, the Internet and the smartphone.
The 1980s: micro-computing
- Organica was born in the 1980s in the context of a revolution, that of the microcomputer, the PC and the Mac.
- For a long time, IT was reserved for large companies with architectures consisting of mainframes and passive terminals.
- The advent of the personal computer in the 1980s made computing accessible to individuals as well as to small and medium-sized enterprises.
- Since its creation, Organica has specialised in the development of IT applications for management, from CRM to cost accounting and budgeting.
- It created solutions for the commercial management of SWIFT, a world leader in the banking and financial telecommunications sector, and also the financial management of RTL Group in Luxembourg, the 2nd largest audiovisual group in the world.
The 1990s: the World Wide Web
- The development of the World Wide Web in the 1990s was a second revolution but also an opportunity for Organica. As the first interactive medium in history, the Internet offered the possibility of communicating data as well as receiving it. Remote computing was born. From then on, rather than positioning itself in web design, Organica developed sites with a high level of interactivity based on powerful databases.
- Organica created the first website of the Brussels Stock Exchange with real-time publication of quotations and the possibility for visitors to register on the site, to select their favourite shares and to define a minimum and maximum price for each share, beyond which they would instantly receive a warning e-mail. Text messages did not yet exist...
- Organica also created extranet sites for several international companies, allowing them to communicate with each other and exchange data on a global scale with their subsidiaries or remote employees.
The 2000s: the smartphone
- The latest revolution was undoubtedly the widespread use of smartphones in the 2000s. Now creating numerous internet, extranet or intranet sites, Organica completely overhauled its interfaces to make them responsive.
- But the smartphone is not just a new interface. A true marriage between computing and telecommunications, the smartphone offers new possibilities in terms of mobile and/or instantaneous interactivity. Through its integrated software package Organon, the development of interfaces specifically dedicated to this new medium is now an integral part of Organica's activities.
